Education
- Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
- BSN and COHN or COHN-S preferred.
Experience / Qualifications
- Current RN/LVN licensure in the state of Florida.
- Emergency Room or Urgent Care experience.
- BLS Certified through American Heart Association
- Spirometry, BAT (Breath Alcohol) certification to be obtained on the job.
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health principles.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent verbal and written skills.
Position Summary
The essential responsibilities of the Employee Health Nurse include but are not limited to:
- Delivers patient care as identified by the Scope of Care of the Patient Care Unit.
- Effective communication demonstrates Caring, Compassion, and Cultural awareness.
- Provide quality care using the nursing process and critical thinking skills.
- Able to function under stress and emergency situations.
- Promotes effective communications between patients, staff, physicians and visitors.
- Promotes communication between injured workers, employers and case managers.
- Provides knowledge of Occupational injuries and illnesses and facilitates early return to work.
- Performs surveillance exams: vision screening, spirometry, TB skin testing, physical agility testing, respiratory fit testing.
- Performs breath alcohol testing and urine drug screening.
- Proficient in vaccine administration and phlebotomy.
- Ensures accurate documentation.
- Ensures adequate supplies and is knowledgeable in operation of equipment.
- Ensures current credentials and /or certifications.
- Maintains compliance with hospital procedural standards.
- Supports and promotes JMC mission and vision.
- Personally contributes to the team environment by demonstrating cooperative, constructive, problem-solving interaction with JMC.

Physical Requirements
This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
