Two years of Scrub Tech experience.
Position Summary
The Scrub Technician is a member of the surgical team performing scrub duties throughout the surgical procedure and functions in the role of preceptor to surgical techs new to the specialty. The scrub tech works under the direction of the Registered Nurse. As a specialty leader the scrub tech assists the RN specialty leader in maintaining the surgeon preferences for listed surgical procedures of the specialty assigned. They also remain current with all the new procedures added to the specialty and are able to assist other team members with instrumentation and equipment associated specifically with the specialty. Scrub tech leadership requires continuous competency reviews, the development of new competencies as technologies change, and also outstanding teamwork with the Registered Nurse specialty leader. The collaborative efforts of both the RN and Scrub tech specialty leaders is the key to patient care excellence and physician satisfaction.

This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.

- Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
