Jupiter is thrilled to launch its 2025 Summer Internship Program! This will be a 10-week paid program starting June 9, 2025, and is open to rising college juniors and seniors who have an interest in renewable energy. To be eligible, candidates must be actively enrolled in a 4 year bachelors degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026. Qualified candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and must be willing to work out of Jupiter Powers Chicago office 4 days per week throughout the Program.
We are currently accepting applications for an intern to work with our Development Engineering team in Chicago, Illinois. This internship will develop professional and technical engineering skills used in renewable energy project development, specifically Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The development engineering team is responsible for supporting the technical evaluation, design, and execution of utility-scale energy storage projects throughout North America.
This individual will work alongside a team of talented individuals and gain hands-on experience. The selected candidate will:
- Learn skills and gain experience relating to:
Utility scale BESS
Project development and due diligence
Battery technology and products in the industry
Safety and design standards
Project design / construction / operations
- Learn of and assist conceptual project layout design using AutoCAD, optimizing design parameters such as product suitability, site spacing, access road layout, etc.
- Learn how to serve as liaison between project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams
- Collaborate in the coordination with third party engineers and consultants to ensure compliance with Jupiters technical specifications
- Understand how to apply lessons learned from completed projects to improve future project outcomes
- Domestic travel to a project in operation, sites in development to support site constructability evaluation, landowner meetings, meetings with counterparties and local government bodies, and/or community outreach events. Up to one week of travel total.
Requirements
- Be at least a rising junior enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in electrical engineering or related technical disciplinewith a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Able to travel domestically up to one week at companys expense
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with varied interests and backgrounds
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Compensation offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate within the range of $25/hr to $40/hr. This role will be based in Chicago, IL working in the office from Mondays through Thursdays, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
