Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the development, construction, and operation of energy storage assets in wholesale electricity markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its proprietary dispatch optimization applications to support both merchant and contracted structures. Jupiter currently has approximately 2200 megawatt-hours in construction or operation and is developing approximately 14 GW of projects over 2024-2030.
Jupiter seeks to hire a highly motivated and experienced professional as its EPC Contracts Manager in the Construction department.
Position Summary
The EPC Contracts Manager will report to the Vice President of Construction and be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration, coordination, and management of EPC contracts and transactions related to Jupiter Power projects. This role will be based out of our Chicago, Illinois office and will be subject to our return-to-office policy which currently requires employees come in 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Draft Request-for-Proposal Documents and send to EPCs, manage the relationship with EPCs Estimating and Bid Departments, receive Proposals and assemble review packages, run point on communicating Award decisions to EPCs
- Lead Contract Negotiations for the Construction Department; work alongside Jupiter Power Legal Team to evaluate, provide commercial review, and execute MSA and Work Authorization Agreements
- Assemble Project-specific Work Authorizations and work with EPCs on their execution
- Oversee the fulfillment of Contractual Requirements including, but not limited to, timely submittal of Agreement documentation and closeout packages, and execution of Completion Certificates
- Assist Project Managers in review of Project-specific Contractual Requirements
- Assist Project Managers with change management tasks including, but not limited to, determining whether Change Order Requests are acceptable (i.e. actually added Scope) and evaluate Change Orders for correctness and conformity with Contract language
- Assist Project Managers with invoice review tasks including, but not limited to, review invoices for correctness and inclusion of appropriate Lien Waivers and Other applicable requirements
- IRA Compliance Management: “Own” the relationship with EPCs PWA Subject Matter Experts. Make sure PWA reporting requirements and other IRA obligations are being met. Work with Jupiter Power’s internal PWA SMEs to verify correctness and completeness of information received.
- Estimating: Provide estimating support to financial modeling team for EPC Work based on past Proposals, actual Project costs, and general industry knowledge in Battery Energy Storage, Substation, and Transmission Line construction
- Procurement Management: Work with Jupiter Power Procurement Director in determining Project-specific requirements and overseeing the administration of equipment Supply Agreements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business of related field, with 7 years of experience in large EPC contracts in the renewable energy industry
- 7 years of experience in large EPC contracts, preferably in the renewable energy industry
- Contract T&Cs knowledge with experience negotiating contract language and/or contractual disputes
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-based systems
- Knowledge of EPC contract creation and administration in the Battery Storage or Solar/Wind industry
- Understanding of legal and contract terminology, and construction/operations contractual terms
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team setting
- Ability to handle confidential matters and interact with diverse counterparts at the Project Site
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills with a customer service mindset
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels of management and employees
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and meeting critical deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on innovation and teamwork
- Strong research and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation & Benefits
$130,000 - $160,000 Annually
This pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Jupiter Power considers a number of factors when determining starting compensation such as the position requirements and the candidate's qualifications.
In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package for this position includes eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity programs. Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
