The Role
Jupiter Power is looking to grow its Construction team with the addition of a Field Engineer. This individual will assist the Construction Health, Safety and Quality Manager in ensuring construction projects adhere to safety and quality standards by conducting site inspections, reviewing documentation, and identifying non-conformities, ultimately contributing to a safe construction process, and a high-quality, reliable final product.
This is a hybrid role with an approximately 50% split between office and on-site work. This role reports to the Construction Health, Safety, and Quality Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety policies, project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Monitor construction activities to identify potential quality issues or deviations.
- Audit the performance of on-site construction workers.
- Ensure proper documentation of inspections, tests, and audits.
- Verify that construction materials meet specified standards and are accompanied by appropriate documentation.
- Assist Construction Health, Safety, and Quality Manager in identifying and documenting non-conformances, discrepancies, and deviations from project requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control plans
- Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams on quality-related matters
- Work closely with Jupiter Power Safety Manager, project managers, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure safety objectives are met.
- Participate in pre-construction planning and meetings.
Expected to be on-site to witness the following work:
- Contractor mobilization
- Commencement of major tasks including, but not limited to, civil works, foundation construction, electrical installation
- Electrical testing
- Delivery of major equipment including, but not limited to, main power transformer, battery enclosures, power conversion system
- To perform safety and quality audits during unannounced site visits as directed by the Construction Health, Safety, and Quality Manager
- To perform safety incident investigations
- To assist in site commissioning supervision
- To facilitate turnover of the project to Site Operations team
- Additional site visits may need to be performed as required by the project needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- University degree in a STEM field
- 5 years of construction experience
- OSHA 30-hr certification
- Experience in renewables construction preferred
