The Role
Jupiter Power is looking to grow its Construction team with the addition of a Construction Health, Safety & Quality Manager (“HSQ Manager”). This individual will ensure project safety by leading, implementing, and enforcing safety plans and initiatives in construction sites. Additionally, the HSQ Manager conducts inspections and manages quality assurance, ensures quality standards are met, and guarantees construction crews adhere to all rules, regulations, industry standards, project specifications, and Jupiter Power expectations.
This is an office-based role that requires frequent visits to construction sites for auditing purposes (estimated 1 week per month). The role is subject to our return-to-office policy which currently requires employees to come into the office a minimum of three days per week (except during travel weeks). This role reports to the Vice President, Construction.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform safety inspections and audits of construction sites.
- Conduct safety investigations
- Oversee all aspects related to quality assurance and quality control.
- Performs quality audits of the site.
- Performs recurring audits of project job books to ensure inspections are being performed and QA/QC standards are being met.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Investigate and record quality non-conformances.
- Take the lead in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate in the creation of, maintain, and oversee the execution of the Jupiter Power Inspection and Test Plan.
- Ensure a smooth transition from construction to operation by constantly collaborating with the site operations team, sharing project status updates, and sharing site operations’ expectations with the construction crew.
- Manage Field Engineers who will be performing recurring updates of sites in construction.
The HSQ Manager is expected to visit project sites recurringly to perform safety audits and review contractors’ quality control records to ensure inspections and tests are being properly recorded, and project job books are being built in a manner that is satisfactory to Jupiter Power.
Preferred Qualifications:
- University Degree in STEM field
- 10 years of Construction Experience
- OSHA 30hr certification, at a minimum
- Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
- Experience in renewables construction
