The HSE Manager will report to the Director O&M and be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration, coordination, and management of the responsibilities set forth below. This position will be based out of our Austin, TX office and be subject to the Company's return-to-office policy which currently requires a minimum of three days / week in the office.
Job Responsibilities :
- Develops, implements, and enforces comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies in accordance with legal and corporate guidelines for all areas of the business.
- Organizes safety training for field and office employees to ensure awareness and understanding of safety and environmental practices and legislation.
- Monitors compliance with policies, performs site inspections, and prepares detailed reports on findings.
- Leads emergency response initiatives and conducts investigations after incidents to establish causes and preventive measures.
- Advises on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, occupational diseases, and waste management.
- Maintains current knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements related to health, safety, and environmental matters that impact the organization.
- Collaborates with internal leadership and external regulatory bodies to maintain compliance standards.
- Conducts risk assessments, safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Direct knowledge and implementation of NFPA 855 standards related to Energy Storage System.
- Able to instruct Lithium-ion emergency response training to local firefighters.
- Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
- Provides guidance on health and safety and confirms site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
- Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.
- Develops strategies to promote a safety-focused culture.
- Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
