Full Job Description

Jurni Design Group is looking to expand its staff with the addition of an experienced Mechanical engineer. Individuals will possess a P.E. license and preferably have 5 years minimum experience in the field of industrial or commercial projects working as a mechanical engineer. Projects focus on the use of both Revit and Auto CAD for drawing creation, therefore the ideal candidate will have in-depth professional experience in both platforms.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside other project team members to oversee the development construction documents for industrial projects focused in the food and beverage industry and commercial projects focused in the warehousing and storage industry. The Mechanical Engineer, P.E. role requires individuals to support and oversee drafting/design/engineering staff to ensure accurate and complete development of documents through all phases (SD, DD, CD, and CA). Communication with team members internally as well as clients externally will be equally important. The individual serve the team as Engineer of Record (EOR) on projects and will be required to perform calculations, build mechanical models, develop specifications, and oversee and assist in drawing production such that he/she maintains direct responsible charge for projects being performed under their license.

Job Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Modeling and calculations for mechanical and plumbing/piping systems design and analysis
  • Specification development
  • Use experience to independently identify and resolve challenges
  • Execute site visits independently or with other team members to meet with customers and collect information related to new or ongoing projects – occasional travel required
  • Provide oversight and direction to staff engineers, drafters and designers
  • Provide training/mentorship of staff engineers
  • Serve project as subject matter expert for mechanical and plumbing/piping systems.
  • Work with staff engineers and designers to develop project drawings
  • Coordinate projects through permitting process with local authorities
  • Work with multi-discipline team to provide overall coordination of all disciplines on projects utilizing both in-house and subconsultant resources.

Requirements:

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • P.E. license with mechanical focus
  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering will be given consideration where minimum experience is not met
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience as mechanical engineer in related field
  • Experience with traditional types of HVAC and piping systems used in industrial projects along with associated industry standard details and specifications.
  • Design experience with – gas and electric HVAC systems, gravity and force plumbing/piping systems for utility and process piping, potable/process/sanitary sewer, heating/cooling/ventilation systems for industrial process equipment (poultry preferred)
  • Design experience with boiler systems preferred
  • Design experience with glycol and/or ammonia refrigeration systems preferred
  • Design experience with emissions control equipment (WESP, RTO, scrubbers, etc) preferred
  • Experience as Engineer of Record on projects
  • Familiarity with all applicable mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas, fire protection, refrigeration, energy design and building codes
  • Working knowledge of architectural and fire prevention codes related to life safety planning
  • Experience with Trane trace software
  • Proficient in Revit and Auto CAD
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Design experience in food and beverage, cold storage, or warehousing industry preferred
