Just for Kids is a community-centered non-profit organization that offers before and after school and summer programming in the Amherst, Cheektowaga Central, Cheektowaga Sloan, Cleveland Hill (Cheektowaga), Grand Island, Sweet Home, and Williamsville Central School Districts. We also offer programming at The Park School of Buffalo, Saints Peter and Paul School in Hamburg, St. Benedict School in Amherst, St. Mary's School in Swormville, and Nardin Academy in Buffalo.
Position Summary
The Recruiter is responsible for the full life-cycle recruitment and will play a crucial role in sourcing, screening, and selecting qualified candidates to fill positions for Just for Kids. This role involves understanding staffing needs, developing recruitment strategies, and ensuring the recruitment process aligns with Just for Kids goals and core values. The Recruiter will be responsible for building a pool of talented and dedicated childcare professionals and will also continue to build strong relationships within the community.
Responsibilities
1. Needs Assessment:
- Collaborate with Just for Kids administration to determine current and future childcare staffing needs.
- Manage all open Just for Kids position vacancies and fill accordingly – internal promotions or external candidates.
- Conduct regular reviews of staffing needs, turnover rates, and anticipated changes to proactively address recruitment goals and requirements.
2. Job Posting and Advertising:
- Work with Human Resources, Field Supervisors, and Director to develop and maintain job descriptions that accurately represent the responsibilities and qualifications for childcare positions.
- Utilize various channels (job boards, social media, industry networks) to advertise job openings and attract potential candidates.
- Plan and manage Just for Kids Open Interview Days
3. Candidate Sourcing:
- Actively source and engage potential candidates through networking, social media, and industry events, including job fairs.
- Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, training programs, and childcare organizations to create a pipeline of qualified candidates.
4. Screening and Interviewing:
- Review resumes and applications to identify candidates who meet the required qualifications.
- Conduct initial screenings and interviews to assess candidates; suitability for childcare roles.
- Collaborate with Director and Field Supervisors to coordinate and conduct comprehensive interviews for management positions (working interviews, final interviews, etc).
5. Selection Process:
- Guide candidates through the recruitment process, providing information about Just for Kids, roles, and expectations.
- Facilitate any pre-employment screening processes for OCFS requirements as it relates to management positions.
- Assist in the negotiation of job offers and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Handle all internal promotions, including internal email communications to employees, interviews as needed, and selection process.
6. Talent Pool Management:
- Maintain an up-to-date database of qualified candidates for future hiring needs.
- Implement strategies to retain and engage potential candidates who are not immediately placed.
- Coordinate Summer Youth and Service Learning Employment Program by developing and nourishing pipeline, communicate with participants, sending offers, and coordinating with Field Supervisors and participants.
7. Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with HR, JFK Administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure a seamless recruitment process.
- Provide regular reports on recruitment metrics, including time-to-fill, candidate quality, and other relevant key performance indicators.
- May support and assist in other HR functions as needed (onboarding, orientations, trainings, etc.).
8. Compliance:
- Stay informed about relevant labor laws and regulations (NYS Department of Labor, Office of Children and Family Services, Department of Health, etc.) to ensure compliance in the recruitment process.
- Implement fair and unbiased recruitment practices to promote diversity and inclusion.
9. Any other duties specified by The Director of Just for Kids or HR Director.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
Requirements
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Human Resources, Compliance).
- Proven experience in recruitment, preferably in the childcare or education sector.
- In-depth knowledge of childcare regulations, licensing standards, and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Knowledge and Skills: Superb organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; professionalism and adherence to best practices; sense of confidentiality; MS Office and applications.
