Job Summary:
Just Play has an incredible opportunity to join the growing Innovation team at a top ten U.S. toy company! Just Play is actively seeking a creative and motivated Product Designer to work on several brands and categories in a fast-paced and exciting environment.
To ensure success as a Product Designer, the ideal candidate will:
- Thrive in a fast paced and constantly evolving environment
- Be a collaborative team-player who is adept at processing feedback from a wider functional team.
- Possess strong sketching, drawing, rendering and dimensional styling skills and the ability to apply them to a fast-paced, iterative design process.
- Have the inspiration to translate their passion for preschool toys into exciting new toy features.
- Have familiarity with developing a toy from concept to prototype, and through manufacturing stages.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Actively generate new designs and ideas for New IP Brands at Just Play.
- Execute on Idea Generation and Product Designs.
- Design and develop New IP Brands.
- Successfully present and communicate concepts to the design, marketing and management.
- Communicate and work with exterior resources like model makers, sculptors, and soft goods designers.
- Able to identify trends and apply them to new avenues of growth for toy categories.
- Contribute to various pitch opportunities as they arise to grow Just Play’s portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Toy Design or other related design field
- Minimum 2 years’ toy design or related product design experience.
- Able to multitask and manage several projects at once in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Experience across product categories like plush, dolls and play sets/accessories.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Understanding of 3D software is a plus.
- Knowledge of material and manufacturing process for toy development.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Understanding of girl’s product design styling cross categories and the ability to infuse cuteness into designs, a plus.
- Understanding of features and play patterns in toys.
- A blue-sky thinker who can problem solve an idea into reality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to travel domestically as needed.
- Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
