About the Position
The Justice, Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Health Technician in our institution. As a member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing emergency assessment and medical care to inmate patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to sudden illness or emergency situations within the facility
- Perform venipuncture and initiate intravenous (IV) and/or intraosseous (IO) therapy as needed
- Determine the basic causes and medical implications of closed and open soft tissue wounds
- Stabilize patients according to established protocols
Requirements and Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
- Education: Master's degree or two full years of graduate education directly related to the work of the position
- Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the federal service
Additional Information
This position requires satisfactory completion of a pre-employment and panel interview, urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. Applicants must also possess a current, active, and unrestricted certification as a National Registry Paramedic (NRP) or a current, active state Paramedic license in the state of the position being applied for.
