Justice North (formerly Legal Aid Service of Northeastern Minnesota) seeks to fill the position of Intake Specialist. This position is hybrid, with in-person office work, events, community outreach and meetings as needed.

Justice North provides free legal representation to low-income and senior citizens in 11 counties and 5 tribal nations with offices in Duluth, Grand Rapids, Virginia, Brainerd and Pine City. Justice North is an integral part of the justice system committed to the proposition that equal access to justice is a basic human right. In every case that we handle, our goal is always to help our clients reach sustainable, holistic resolutions to the problems they face. To that end, we work closely with community partners across our region.
Responsibilities:
The Intake Specialist provides intake services to potential clients over the telephone, online and in person.
Key position responsibilities include:
- Complete phone and online intakes with potential clients to determine eligibility for Justice North’s services and provide follow-up with case handlers and potential clients.
- Utilize the case management system to screen applicants, accurately process client intakes and perform other tasks as needed.
- Provide information to clients and the general public regarding Justice North's services.
- Acquire knowledge of Justice North’s services and community resources in order to make appropriate legal and non-legal referrals.
- Attend outreach events across our service area.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in direct client contact in the legal or human services fields are preferred but not required.
- Demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve is necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required to work with clients and the general public, and to provide a professional and respectful experience to clients.
- The Intake Specialist must have the ability to solve problems quickly and work at a fast pace. The Intake Specialist should exercise exemplary judgment in implementing established policies and procedures and maintaining confidentiality of all information in the office.

Compensation:
Pursuant to Justice North’s salary scale based on years of experience, starting at $43,000.00 annually. This is a full-time position (35 hour work week).
