JRI’s Program RISE is a multi-service program serving the Metrowest area. RISE offers free confidential HIV counseling, testing and referrals, STI and Hepatitis testing, HIV Case Management, Housing Search & Advocacy, Peer Support Services, LGBT services, Overdose Prevention and Education, Needle Exchange, community education programs on HIV, STIs, viral Hepatitis, harm reduction, and LGBTQ cultural competency.
Salary: $50,000
What You'll Do:
Harm Reduction Direct-Care and Coordination (80%)
- Conduct syringe exchange per JRI policies, providing clean needles, and safely disposing of used ones.
- Coordinate outreach to high-risk areas for individuals who inject drugs.
- Assist in creating and implementing outreach schedules.
- Plan client engagement events and surveys focused on advocacy and harm reduction.
- Manage client advocacy requests, especially for vulnerable populations.
- Oversee housing application referrals related to health navigation.
- Connect people who use drugs (PWUD) to feedback opportunities with community organizations.
- Distribute safer sex and overdose prevention supplies.
- Provide HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis testing and counseling per CDC guidelines.
- Refer clients to support services like treatment and shelters.
- Share harm reduction information on safe injection practices and HIV/STI prevention.
- Collaborate with agencies for advocacy on needle exchange and naloxone access.
- Participate in committees and professional development opportunities.
- Collect program data on engagement and services offered.
- Stay informed on substance use and harm reduction issues.
- Participate in quality assurance and maintaining facility safety and cleanliness.
- Assist in policy development and program evaluation.
- Attend required meetings and taking on additional tasks as needed.
Post Overdose Support Team (20%)
- Train active users, allies, and service providers on overdose prevention, naloxone, and syringe access.
- Collect consumer feedback on POST overdose services through surveys and follow-ups.
- Distribute Naloxone to consumers of Program RISE and their networks.
- Expand outreach venues to gather consumer input and provide overdose support and education.
- Use hotspot data to assist clients who experienced unreported overdoses.
- Connect overdose survivors and their families to forums for feedback on service needs.
- Participate in monthly POST Providers meetings for collaboration and updates.
- Attend weekly Metrowest Care Connection meetings for coordinated support.
- Collaborate with community organizations to enhance service coordination for overdose survivors.

Requirements:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred (significant experience may be substituted for education).
- Experience in HIV/AIDS, STI and Viral Hepatitis, or related field preferred.
- Experience counseling or health education preferred.
- Knowledge of health promotion and HIV, STI and Viral Hepatitis prevention strategies.
- Experience working with diverse populations and cultural sensitivity to diverse active user population, and Black, Hispanic, LGBTQ and varied cultures.
- Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based interventions.
- Knowledge of harm reduction, syringe services, naloxone, and opioid overdose prevention strategies.
- Experience with or be willing to learn phlebotomy.
- Candidates with substance use disorder and communicable diseases certificate or training are preferred.
