JustinBradley’s client, one of the most influential advocacy and lobbying associations in the United States, is looking for an Assistant Controller for their Washington, DC headquarters.
The Assistant Controller is responsible for maintaining internal controls and supports financial reporting for the organization and related entities. In this role, the Assistant Controller must be able to apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and to provide accurate financial data for management review.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Setup and maintain all accounting and budgeting systems, including Sage Intacct and Dynamic Budgets or their successors.
- Collaborate with the Controller and CFO to develop and maintain Intacct financial reports to aid decision making for the departments and executive team.
- Provide training and guidance to departmental users of Intacct, Dynamic Budgets and other Finance applications.
- Support role in the preparation of the annual budgets.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing process for all entities, including recurring journal entries and NetForum revenue recognition.
- Run monthly financial statement reports for review by Controller and CFO.
- Review monthly financial statements and analyze actual results compared to budgets and projections.
- Lead and manage a team of two direct reports: the Senior Accountant and the Accounts Payable Accountant.
A well-qualified candidate will possess the following:
- B.S. degree in Accounting and CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years full-cycle accounting experience with associations or not-for-profits required.
- Knowledge and experience applying general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) required.
- Prior supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
