Project Planning and Coordination
In this role, the entry-level solar project manager will support the senior project manager in creating project plans, timelines, and budgets. They will also assist in defining the project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring they align with the client’s needs. Additionally, they will help break down the project into smaller tasks and ensure these tasks are assigned appropriately to team members. The entry-level manager will also track project milestones, regularly updating the senior manager on the project's progress.
Furthermore, they will coordinate communication between internal teams, including engineering, procurement, and construction, and external stakeholders such as clients, contractors, and local authorities. They will also help facilitate project meetings and ensure that communication flows smoothly.
Procurement and Logistics Support
An entry-level solar project manager will assist with identifying and evaluating vendors and suppliers for essential solar components like panels, inverters, and other equipment. They will support senior project managers in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships. Additionally, they will maintain records for procurement activities, such as purchase orders, delivery schedules, and inventory management. Monitoring the delivery of materials to ensure that they arrive on time and meet the necessary specifications will also fall under their responsibilities.
The manager will also help with the logistics of delivering equipment and ensuring that personnel have everything they need for timely and efficient project execution.
Construction Support and Site Management
The entry-level manager will conduct regular site visits to monitor the progress of solar installations and ensure that the work meets the project’s specifications. They will assist in identifying potential issues at the site, such as delays, equipment problems, or safety concerns, and will report these issues to the senior project manager. In terms of safety and compliance, they will ensure that protocols are being followed, and that all regulatory requirements are met throughout the installation process.
Another key aspect of the role will be assisting in maintaining project documentation, including daily activity logs, site issues, and any changes to the project scope.
Quality Assurance and Testing Support
The entry-level project manager will assist in quality control by ensuring that the solar systems are installed according to the required industry standards and client specifications. They will participate in reviewing the installation work and conducting basic quality checks before commissioning the system. They will also help with the testing and commissioning phases, ensuring that the system is performing as expected and is ready for handover to the client.
Reporting and Administrative Support
The entry-level manager will assist in preparing progress reports for clients and internal teams. They will help track project expenses, ensuring that the project remains within budget and alerting senior managers to any discrepancies. In addition, they will support the senior project managers in preparing cost forecasts and budget updates.
As part of client communication, they will assist in providing status updates and help prepare client-facing presentations and meeting agendas.
Post-Project Activities
After the completion of the solar installation, the entry-level manager will help prepare for the system handover, ensuring all necessary documentation, including system operation manuals and warranties, is provided to the client. They may also coordinate follow-up visits for system maintenance or performance checks, ensuring that any post-installation issues are addressed. Additionally, they will assist in gathering feedback from clients to assess satisfaction and identify areas for future improvement.
