What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Services Director/Administrator position at Juvenile Court of Memphis & Shelby County?
Conducts in-person forensic psychological evaluations and consultations for children and
adolescents in accordance with standards set by APA. The Administrator of Clinical Services
will conduct interviews with children and their parents/guardians and provide feedback relative
to appropriate developmental methods.
Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer & Deputy Chief Administrative Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitors and ensures adherence to state and federal regulations and to professional and
community standards with regard to treatment, ethics, client rights and confidentiality.
• Conducts Court-ordered forensic assessments of children and adolescents to address psycho-
legal issues and, as necessary, communicates findings to judges and magistrates, juvenile
counselors, youth development specialists, detention center staff, and child protective
services case workers as appropriate.
• Produces forensic reports pertaining to juvenile competency to stand trial, transfer of cases to
criminal Court, juvenile risk assessment, and juvenile diagnostic assessments.
• Conducts clinical interviews and behavioral assessments of children and their
parents/guardians, including social history, mental status, diagnostic considerations, and
treatment recommendations, and ensures appropriate developmental recommendations are
provided.
• Incorporates collateral information into reports from sources such as court records, parents
and guardians, mental health facilities, physicians, and schools.
• Interprets and integrates psychological testing results into work products to quantify
intellectual and adaptive functioning, academic skills, emotional responding, personality
aspects, and specific abilities.
• Provides expert witness testimony in court trials as needed.
• Ensures clients and their families receive instruction and counsel regarding compliance with
prescribed recommendations.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of intervention and rehabilitative/developmental methods.
• Suggests the utilization of the resources of public and private agencies and community
organizations to meet the developmental needs of clients.
• Ensures individual and group counseling or psycho-educational programming is conducted
with adolescents.
• Conduct staff conferences to select, plan and evaluate treatment programs.
• Consult with medical, nursing, and other professionals regarding diagnosis, strengths and
deficits of children and adolescents as determined by the psychological evaluation.
• Reviews intake summaries, developmental plans, and case summaries; responsible for the
preparation and maintenance of ongoing confidential records.
• Responsible for ensuring client treatments and progress reports are recorded in accordance
with state regulations and in keeping with accepted community standards.
• Oversees the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological testing by other staff
members or learners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
• Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology.
• Proficient in psychological testing, including instrument selection, standardized
administration, scoring and interpretation. Prior training in juvenile forensic psychology
is preferred.
• One-year pre-doctoral internship supervised by a licensed psychologist
• One year of related experience in a juvenile facility
• Licensure by the State of Tennessee; licensed out-of-state psychologists must become
fully licensed by the State of Tennessee within three (3) months of date of hire.
Salary range: $80,465 - $138,000
