General Statement of Duties

Performs professional management duties with Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court involving agency planning and designing of systems; collecting and analyze data for monitoring and compliance and for reporting; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
The Henrico County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispute Resolution Coordinator to oversee mediation referrals and administrative processes within the Dispute Resolution Office. This office plays a critical role in facilitating court-ordered mediation for civil cases, ensuring that disputes related to custody, visitation, and support are managed efficiently.
- Maintain a list of Certified Mediators for court-ordered referrals and appoint mediators as needed.
- Review Initial Civil Petitions, Motions to Amend Custody/Parenting Time/Visitation, and Motions to Amend non-DCSE Support to assess mediation eligibility.
- Issue Orders of Referral and provide parties with mediation instructions.
- Respond to courtroom referrals, providing guidance to parties when mediation is ordered from the bench.
- Track and log all cases considered for mediation, documenting details such as acceptance, mediator assignments, and case outcomes.
- Ensure mediations occur within 30 days of filing when applicable.
- Coordinate and maintain mediation records for Senior Management, the Chief Judge, and Presiding Judges as needed.
- Monitor mediator certification status to ensure compliance with state requirements.
- Review and process mediator invoices for payment.
Qualifications:
- Experience in dispute resolution, court administration, or legal case management preferred.
- Strong organizational and data management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with court personnel, mediators, and the public.
- Knowledge of Virginia court procedures and mediation practices is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree and one (1) year of work experience related to the program or services to which assigned; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information
The schedule for this position will be Monday and Friday 8:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. or as needed to assist with filling in for other staff members. This is an hourly position and will not exceed 29 hours per week.
