We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DFMEA Engineer Expert to join our team within the automotive industry. As a DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) Engineer Expert, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design failure analysis processes, ensuring that product designs meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality assurance personnel, to identify potential failure modes early in the product development process and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead DFMEA activities for automotive design projects, ensuring all design elements are thoroughly evaluated for potential failure modes, effects, and causes.
  • Facilitate DFMEA workshops with cross-functional teams, including product design, manufacturing, and testing teams, to identify and prioritize risks.
  • Use engineering knowledge and DFMEA methodologies to systematically identify failure modes and assess their impact on product performance and safety.
  • Develop and document failure mode analysis reports, ensuring comprehensive understanding of risk prioritization and mitigation actions.
  • Collaborate with design teams to review design drawings, CAD models, and specifications to proactively identify design weaknesses or failure points.
  • Work with the product development team to recommend and implement design changes that reduce or eliminate failure modes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for design-related failures and coordinate corrective actions to resolve potential issues.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies, including proposing design modifications, material changes, or manufacturing process adjustments.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of DFMEA procedures, best practices, and documentation.
  • Ensure all DFMEA reports comply with automotive industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Support the validation of design changes through testing and simulation to confirm that identified failure modes have been addressed.
  • The position will require high level, continuous, summary reports and strategic timelines and plans to reduce RPN and risk.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive industry, with at least 3 years focused on DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) or related risk management activities.
  • Strong experience in design engineering, with a proven track record of leading DFMEA sessions for automotive product development projects.
  • Deep understanding of automotive design standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Certification in DFMEA or related methodologies (e.g., AIAG FMEA, Six Sigma, etc.) is preferred.

Technical Skills And Knowledge

  • Expertise in DFMEA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and PLM systems.
  • Strong understanding of design, manufacturing, and assembly processes within the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, risk assessment, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality management systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Experience with simulation and testing methods to validate design changes and improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify potential failure modes and their impact.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying risks and providing solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership qualities, with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers and teams.

Working Conditions
