SUMMARY :
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for engineering the best automobile parts and components in the world. As a Material and Processing Engineer, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the Bill of Materials (BOMs) for our products. The successful candidate will have at least five years of BOM management experience and will be responsible for managing various aspects of materials, part tracking, and processing, with a focus on ensuring quality, compatibility, and cost efficiency. This role requires close collaboration with Design and Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Estimating, and Manufacturing teams to optimize processes and materials selection.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Create BOM structure, and BOMs; manage and maintain accurate Bill of Materials for responsible products.
- Track and manage all BOMs and associated part numbers, ensuring that all components are accurately documented and easily traceable.
- Oversee part drawings and supplier information, maintaining clear documentation for part genealogy.
- Identify opportunities to reduce complexity in parts and assembly processes, aiming for cost savings and streamlined production.
- Manage the selection and procurement of critical components such as fasteners, clips, seals, foams, adhesives, electrical switches, and metal stampings.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams regarding materials, particularly resins, ensuring optimal material selection for functionality and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure the compatibility of various materials and components for seamless integration into the manufacturing process.
- Promote the standardization of materials and components across products and projects to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work closely with Engineering, Design, Project Management, Purchasing, Estimating, and Manufacturing teams to ensure alignment on material and processing needs.
REPORTING :
Provide regular updates to the Managing Director, including detailed reports on material usage, cost management, and process improvements.
EXPERIENCE :
At least 5 years of BOM management, and experience in materials engineering, manufacturing, or related fields.
SKILLS AND EDUCATION :
Strong understanding of BOM management, part tracking, and genealogy.
Experience with materials such as resins, fasteners, adhesives, seals, foams, and electrical components.
Proficiency in complexity reduction strategies and part standardization.
Ability to manage supplier relationships and coordinate material procurement.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to report findings and collaborate with various teams.
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree a plus.
