POSITION SUMMARY :
As a member of JVS' senior management team, the Vice President (VP) will lead the Career Services division, which is the organization’s main entry point. The VP is responsible for developing and managing a wide range of services, programs, and resources to support the underemployed, unemployed, newly employed, career changers, and those seeking new skills or education to advance their careers. This role also includes overseeing the development and success of key Training Programs to ensure they meet industry needs and drive workforce development outcomes.
The VP will manage the daily operations of the One-Stop Career Center, including staffing, budgeting, contracting, reporting, and evaluation. Ensuring high-quality service for job seekers and implementing effective workforce development practices for Boston-area employers will be a priority. The VP will set clear goals and work with Career Services staff to achieve measurable outcomes for both job seekers and employers. Additionally, the VP will integrate Career Services with other JVS workforce development programs, creating a unified continuum of services and opportunities for all customers.

Leadership
- Ensure the success and scalability of the Career Services division known for improving job seeker skills, advancing careers, and meeting employer needs.
- Hire, support, and develop staff to deliver high-quality services to job seekers and employers.
- Actively contribute to JVS senior management team by helping shape long-term plans, goals, and strategies.
- Continue to evolve Career Services to serve entry-level, mid-level, and professional job seekers, including career and industry changers.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to uphold JVS values and achieve the organization’s mission.
- Plan staffing and strategies for launching new services and programs.
- Ensure the Career Center operates efficiently and follows best practices.
Staffing and Supervision
Provide leadership and set the vision and direction for Career Services at JVS.Clearly communicate the vision, expectations, and priorities for Career Services.Ensure the management team and staff meet program and contract requirements.Hire, train, and develop Career Services staff, fostering talent and promoting growth opportunities within the agency.Supervise direct reports, providing regular feedback, performance evaluations, and support for professional growth.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on various projects to drive success and achieve shared goals.Monitor performance, create work plans, and take corrective action when necessary.Workforce Development
Represent the Career Center at state and city meetings, forums, and events.Collaborate with career centers and workforce boards on state and federal opportunities.Participate in the healthcare consortium and other workforce-related groups.Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, training providers, and employers to support the Career Center’s goals.Maintain strong relationships with higher education organizations and employer partners.Identify and pursue new opportunities to expand services and secure funding.Operations
Ensure career services are innovative, customer-focused, and responsive to needs.Ensure the Career Center complies with all local, state, and federal regulations and policies.Manage and oversee the implementation of new and existing contracts, including staffing, programs, and services.Oversee contract reporting, ensuring timely submission to funders and that goals are met.Develop marketing strategies and identify key customers for targeted outreach.Regularly use surveys and other tools to measure client satisfaction.Ensure effective and timely use of the MOSES / SALESFORCE database.Review management reports and ensure data integrity.Respond to proposals and proactively seek funding for new programs.Lead proposal design, program implementation, and ongoing monitoring to ensure quality outcomes based on contractual requirements.Financial Management
Collaborate with the state and Private Industry Council to contract career center services.Oversee all contract packages, ensuring proper documentation and execution.Work with the JVS Finance Department on budget preparation, invoicing, and financial management of career services.Meet revenue targets through client enrollments, job placements, business development, and new proposals.Monitor budget performance, ensuring cost reimbursement contracts capture all expenses and take corrective action when needed.Handle special projects as requested.Knowledge / Skills / Experience Required
Eight years of related work experience;Three years of program management and supervisory experience;Proven financial management skills;Proven program development and management skills;Hands-on experience in grant and proposal writing;Hands-on experience in review and creation of budgets;Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with focus on strong Excel skills;Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;Ability to work as part of a team; experience in team facilitation;Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;Demonstrated presentation skills;Demonstrated effective negotiation skills.Education Required :
BA / BS in Human Service, Education, Non-Profit Management, Business or related field.
