The Center of Excellence Training / Apprenticeship Coordinator is responsible for establishing and managing training and apprenticeship programs within the Center of Excellence. This role emphasizes collaboration with employers, educational institutions, and training providers to develop career pathways for high-demand sectors. The Coordinator works to create accessible, industry-aligned training programs that enable participants to gain in-demand skills, ensuring these programs meet WIOA standards and support sustainable employment.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Program Development and Coordination :
- Develop and coordinate training and apprenticeship programs that align with local labor market needs and employer demands.
- Design career pathways that provide participants with skills training, hands-on experience, and industry-recognized credentials.
- Ensure that programs are aligned with WIOA regulations, local workforce board priorities, and organizational goals.
2. Employer Engagement and Partnership Development :
Build partnerships with local employers to develop apprenticeships, internships, and training programs that meet industry standards.Work with employers to identify specific skill needs and customize training solutions to ensure a qualified talent pipeline.Promote training and apprenticeship programs to employers, showcasing the benefits of hiring from the Center of Excellence.3. Training Provider Coordination :
Collaborate with educational institutions, vocational schools, and industry trainers to deliver high-quality, relevant training programs.Manage contracts and relationships with training providers, ensuring performance, reporting, and quality standards compliance.Regularly assess training programs to ensure they meet employer expectations and lead to positive participant outcomes.4. Participant Recruitment and Support :
Coordinate participant outreach and recruitment for training and apprenticeship programs, ensuring accessibility for diverse populations.Guide participants through program enrollment, including orientation, registration, and preparation for training.Provide career counseling, job coaching, and support to ensure participants are well-prepared and equipped to succeed in training and on the job.5. Compliance and Performance Tracking :
Maintain accurate records of participant enrollment, training completion, and job placement outcomes in compliance with WIOA guidelines.Track program effectiveness and outcomes, including job placement and retention rates, participant progress, and employer satisfaction.Prepare and submit reports to demonstrate program impact and compliance of training cohorts.6. Participant Case Management and Support Services :
Coordinate with case managers and support staff to connect participants with necessary supportive services, such as transportation or childcare.Provide ongoing support throughout the training or apprenticeship experience to help participants overcome challenges and stay on track.Monitor participant progress and intervene to support successful program completion and job placement.Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Workforce Development, Business, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred).3 years of experience in workforce development, economic development, industry engagement, or related fields.Knowledge of WIOA guidelines, local labor market trends, and sector-specific workforce requirements.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and labor market information.Experience in building partnerships with employers, educational institutions, and community organizations.Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.Excellent communication, partnership-building, and interpersonal skills.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to create industry-relevant training solutions.Familiarity with job placement, career pathways, and workforce development initiatives.Proficiency in data tracking, reporting, and case management software.Empathy and cultural competence in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds.Ability to work collaboratively with employers, training providers, and community partners.Complete CWDP course and exam within 3 months of employment and secure CWDP certification within 12 months of employment.Work flexible hours, including early morning, evenings, and weekends is required.Travel to various locations, such as businesses, worksites, off-site meetings, and other related events.PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following : stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to inspect work visually. Manual dexterity is required to operate computers and other office equipment.
