Summary:
We are seeking a certified Journeyperson Equipment Operator to join our team. In this role, you will work on a disaster recovery project in Southern California for a short-term project lasting six months or more. The ideal candidate possesses journey-level expertise in operating excavators or skid steers safely and efficiently in challenging outdoor environments.
Essential Responsibilities:

Operate heavy equipment such as excavators and skid steers for disaster recovery restoration.

Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure safety and optimal performance.

Collaborate closely with crew members to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.

Report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly to the supervisor.

Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations.
-
Assist with additional on-site tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

Certified Journeyperson (apprenticeship number typically required for this position, but not mandatory for this specific project).

Minimum of 4 years of experience operating heavy equipment.

Proven ability to work in remote locations and challenging outdoor conditions.

Has successfully completed an Operating Engineer Apprenticeship program (preferred but not required for this project).

Capability to perform minor repairs and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Has a current HAZWOPER Training Certificate or can renew.

Must complete a Hazmat Physical and pass exam.

Pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable.

Coordination between hands, eyes, and feet to guide equipment and objects is required.

Must be able to mount and dismount safely off vehicles and equipment.

Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Must be able to walk on uneven terrain.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and challenging terrain.

Work in a hazmat suit and gear in a disaster recovery fire area site.

Travel:

Willingness to live on-site for the full duration of the project, which is expected to last six months or more.
