The Customs Entry Writer assist importers in clearing their import shipments through US Customs from the beginning through each shipment's arrival at the port of discharge.

JW Transport and JW Customs Brokers are headquartered in Uptown New Orleans offering logistics solutions for domestic and international cargo shipments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Gathering, preparation and submittal of shipment data to Customs & Border Protection
- Updating, tracking and tracing of international shipments
- Soliciting shipment-critical documentation from clients, steamship lines, freight forwarders, etc.
- Receiving and processing new inbound shipping documents
- Drafting and filing of customs entries
- Resolution of issues which prevent timely release of cargo
- Payment of operational charges related to cargo release and availability
- Monitoring group email inboxes and replying to inquiries
- Dissemination of updated information about shipment statuses internally and externally
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in computer skills with strong Microsoft Excel expertise
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Industry experience a plus, but not required
- Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
