What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Server position at JW Marriott?
General Summary of Duties:
The Banquet Server is responsible for setting up events, serving food and beverage items. This includes clearing tables and returning all equipment to their respective areas. The Banquet Server is responsible for retrieving all reusable food items and placing them on a separate cart. Other responsibilities include ensuring service corridor safety by transporting all equipment in the proper manner, being responsible for handling of all equipment and linens, ensuring that all spills and breakage are attended to immediately. Lastly, the Banquet Server is responsible for gathering all equipment necessary to service a function and maintaining a clear and immaculate service corridor.
Examples of Duties (include but are not limited to the following):
- Assist in moving any tables and chairs
- Inform supervisor of any problems or complaints
- Proper handling and storage of all equipment
- Greet and engage with guests
- Carrying trays with food and beverage items
- Keep glasses filled; remove each round of plates and replenish utensils
- Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service
- Assist in the operational success of events
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment
- Strong customer service experience, interpersonal, and communication skills are required
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and responsive to change
Education:
- Some High school or equivalent, preferred
Typical Physical / Mental Demands:
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch
- Must use hands to reach, grasp, handle, pull and push
- Be able to lift, push, and pull more than 50lbs
- Must have good near and far vision
