Our client, a $12b multi-manager hedge fund, is currently seeking a Long/Short Equity Analyst to focus on Aerospace & Defense (A&D) and Multi-Industry sectors within one of its Industrials teams. The analyst will work closely with a Portfolio Manager, conducting deep fundamental research and generating long and short investment ideas across commercial aerospace, defense contractors, industrial conglomerates, and diversified manufacturers.
This role is available in New York or San Francisco and offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping portfolio strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fundamental research on A&D and Multi-Industry companies, identifying long and short investment opportunities
- Build and maintain financial models incorporating revenue drivers such as defense budgets, commercial aircraft orders, supply chain constraints, and industrial capex cycles
- Monitor earnings reports, M&A activity, supply chain disruptions, and technological advancements in the sector
- Collaborate with the Portfolio Manager on trade structuring, risk management, and position sizing
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 5 years in equity research or investment banking OR 1-3 years on the buyside with a focus on A&D or Multi-Industry
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills to support idea generation in a long/short equity strategy
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience defending investment theses to senior decision-makers
- Deep understanding of A&D value chains, including defense contractors, aircraft OEMs, suppliers, and aftermarket services
- Familiarity with industrial conglomerates, capital equipment manufacturers, and cyclical end markets
- Ability to assess defense spending trends, commercial aerospace demand, and industrial production cycles
Salary : $200,000 - $250,000
