Our client, a top-performing hedge fund, is seeking an **Energy Analyst to join one of their highest-performing Long/Short Equity investment teams. This is a high-impact opportunity to work alongside a seasoned Portfolio Manager in a collaborative, performance-driven environment and directly influence portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cover a dynamic energy universe – including major oil & gas companies, refiners, and Canadian energy players
- Conduct deep fundamental research and proprietary analysis to generate high-conviction long and short investment ideas
- Analyze commodity cycles, crude differentials, refinery spreads, hedging strategies, and macro trends affecting oil supply/demand, regulations, and ESG
- Utilize strong financial modeling skills (DCF, NAV, refining margin analysis) to support investment decisions
- Articulate risk/reward setups and execute long/short positioning with conviction
Ideal Candidate:
- 5-10 years of buy-side experience (L/S equity hedge fund preferred) or top-tier sell-side experience covering Integrateds, Refining, and Canadian Energy
- Strong track record of actionable stock idea generation backed by data-driven insights
- Expertise in commodity fundamentals, sector trends, and risk management
