What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contracts Manager position at JWC Environmental?
Position Summary:
The Contract Manager ensures sales contracts conform with JWC’s legal and commercial contract guidelines through negotiations with customers. Provides pre-sales support to sales team by reviewing terms of RFQ’s and proposals. Manages work priorities, performance, and statistical reporting for the department. Manages JWC’s Export Compliance activities to ensure US exports follow corporate and federal guidelines. Reports to VP Finance with dotted line reporting to Corporate Legal and Trade Compliance Officer. Must have ability to work effectively in a high volume, time sensitive environment where priorities and deadlines change quickly.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage (1) Contract Administrator and (1) Export Compliance Administrator
- Ensure new sales orders are processed, approved, signed, and documented per department guidelines
- Negotiate purchase order terms of moderate to high complexity
- Draft Sales Agreements, Service Contracts, NDA’s, Distributor agreements, and other contract terms
- Review federal, state, and local laws to ensure legal compliance
- Review export sales contract terms for compliance with federal regulations
- Work with Sales team, pre-and post- award, analyzing and marking up terms
- Prepare Change Orders so ERP system reflects updated sales contract terms
- Proactively improve contract review cycle time to minimize quantity of unreleased orders
- Provide legal and contractual support and expertise within JWC as requested
- Maintain templates of pre-approved contract terms and correspondence
Education, Experience, & Skills:
Required:
- 4-year degree in Business Administration, Business Law, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years as contracts manager in medium to large company
- Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Understanding of risk areas and risk mitigation strategies used in contract negotiations
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, and urgency in fast-paced environment
- Strong MS Office and ERP systems knowledge
- Expert knowledge in contract law
Preferred:
- Experience with manufacturing, construction contracts, or EPC highly desirable
