Housekeeping

Position Purpose:
The Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring the San Julian Oasis facility and outdoor area cleanliness, maintenance, and disinfection. This position requires for house keeping and janitorial serviced to be performed in a manner that upholds the JWCH mission to improve the health status and well-being of under-served segments of the population of Los Angeles County. This position will ensure smooth and consistent facility and residence operations. 

The San Julian Oasis Recuperative Care Program is dedicated to providing housing, medical care and meals for individuals experiencing homelessness, guiding them towards recovery and an enhanced quality of life. It's important to note that some individuals in the program may also grapple with mental health and substance abuse issues, which can manifest in challenging behaviors such as yelling, cussing, and angry outbursts. 

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Cleans facility floors and surfaces using prescribed cleaning methods and procedures.
2. Mixes appropriate proportions of cleaning and disinfecting materials following safety protocols.
3. Sanitizes, dusts, mops and sweeps client room,  outside garden area, laundry room, computer lab, staff lounge, case manager’s offices, staff restrooms, hallways, utility rooms and administrative offices.
4. Cleans and disinfects client bathroom and public restrooms.
5. Cleans mirrors and windows along with polishing fittings and fixtures.
6. Creates and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
7. Inform Residence & Food Coordinator and Program Manager of any cleaning equipment that may need repair or replacement.
8. Inform Residence & Food Coordinator and Program Manager about any client complaints or building hazards and assists in addressing it.
9. Maintains a clean and organized storage area for cleaning equipment and supplies.
10. Follows highest standards of cleanliness. Follows all federal, state and corporate policies, health codes.
11. Coordinates with laundry services to ensure that cleaning rags are available on a constant basis.
12. Follows procedures to properly clean medical equipment.
13. Uses proper mop heads for designated rooms, and follow color directions to ensure the proper sanitary guidelines.
14. Cleans community rooms by taking out trash, sweeping, mopping, clean windows, & mirrors, and counters.
15. Assists with efforts to assess and improve client satisfaction regarding facility services
16. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
17. Self-identifies and supports a system for staff to identify potentially unsafe systems/processes/situations and takes initiative to ensure problem solving with appropriate response that is clearly documented
18. Performs other duties and tasks as may be required or assigned.

Requirements:

1. Minimum 2 year of experience in facility housekeeping service
2. Ability to communicate effectively 
3. H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. 
4. Knowledge of Custodial Fundamentals including, Steamer Training Completion, Chemical/Safety Training Completion & Floor Care Certified  
5. Light work – exert/lift up to 50-75 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 30-15 lbs. frequently
