What are the responsibilities and job description for the NextGen EHR Trainer position at JWCH Institute?
Position Purpose:
This position works with physicians and staff to improve their knowledge of NextGen EMR functionality, to improve clinical documentation, improve efficiency, and to assess workflows. Training is conducted in a wide variety of settings, including: small/large classrooms, one-on-one, group meetings, at-the-elbow, and web-based virtual sessions. The EMR Trainer will provide on-site support at ‘Go Live’ following end user training to guide the clinic during new system adoption. This position is also responsible for teaching the requirements of different CMS quality related programs. This position serves as the subject matter expert for testing and maintaining EMR applications. The NextGen EMR Trainer will provide ongoing support and continued education to all departments within JWCH Institute guidelines.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide NextGen training and support to new employees: Front/Back/Clinical.
- Training will be performed in both the Classroom and the Employee’s work site setting.
- Document formal workflows, for all NextGen ICS, PM, EHR and EDR, to incorporate into the training curriculum to support Revenue Cycle and Clinical operations.
- Assist with developing quizzes and follow-up training sessions.
- Perform NextGen activity audits and charting compliance.
- Daily troubleshooting and resolution of reported issues.
- Maintain positive working relationships with team members and staff.
- In depth knowledge of Workflow Administrator/EHR Inbox Tasking/PAQ Delegation, and PM Worklog.
- In depth knowledge of NextGen Patient Portal.
- Assist with QA/validation testing when there are software upgrades, workstation updates, and any other system changes to verify proper functioning of upgraded components.
- Provide tier 1-level support and end-user training assistance for NextGen and all related applications, including but not limited to NextGen EDR, EHR, PM, and DM.
- Resolve issues or escalate application issues to IT and/or vendor, as necessary.
- Function as a liaison between the IT department, sites, and software vendors regarding specific software product issues.
- Responsible for maintaining training materials when; upgrading, testing new workflows, and new software applications.
- Addressing application and workflow inefficiencies and strong ability to identify potential issues and participate in their resolution.
- Collaborate with Clinic Administrators to incorporate best practices.
- In depth knowledge of the Document Management Application.
- General application troubleshooting: scanning, filing, re-filing, etc.
- Work closely with the EHR Manager to establish training schedule across all entities.
- Other duties and/or special projects may be assigned by supervisor(s).
Requirements:
- Minimum of two year of work experience, ideally in a health care setting.
- Ability to assume sole and independent responsibility for various assigned projects and tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required; Visio, SharePoint is a plus).
- Ability to organize and prioritize various time-sensitive assignments.
- Ability to work calmly and constructively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to analyze and anticipate problems.
- Ability to communicate clearly at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures and assignment from supervisor(s).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of the implementation process and the various interdependencies between operations and technology both internal and external.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
- Strong training/facilitation skills (experience with NextGen EMR preferred).
- Working for a FQHC experience preferred.
