Position Purpose :
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist plays an essential role in supporting payroll processing and overseeing benefits administration. The specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate processing of payroll, assisting with discrepancies, communicating effectively with employees regarding benefits, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The specialist also manages payroll systems, ensures accurate payroll information, and supports the payroll department in maintaining the integrity of employee compensation and benefits programs. This position will also work closely with the Human Resources department to facilitate benefit enrollments and changes, as well as the processing of new hire benefits.
Principal Responsibilities :
- Review, audit, and reconcile monthly insurance premiums for health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and supplemental plans, including Aflac and Unum.
- Provide guidance and support to employees with 401(k) enrollments and eligibility for pension plans.
- Process all payroll garnishments, earnings, and accruals accurately and on time.
- Audit and verify payroll data, researching discrepancies and addressing any issues with documentation.
- Track and manage employee time-off balances, including PTO, sick leave, and other leave types.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and time-off policies promptly and professionally.
- Assist with audits by preparing necessary reports and documents, ensuring timely submission.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records for all payroll and benefits-related information.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and benefits regulations.
- Support the processing of new hires, terminations, and benefits changes in relation to payroll.
- Generate and distribute payroll reports, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Collaborate effectively with employees and departments to resolve payroll and benefits-related concerns.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support payroll and benefits functions.
