K&E Fire Protection is seeking a full time experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer. We are a well established engineering firm that has been in business for over 52 years and are currently looking for the right individual to join our growing team. We utilize the latest technology and software to design all types of small and large scale commercial, residential, and industrial projects across the entire country.
Summary of Position:
- Maintain a high level of communication with the client which includes a start up meeting, sending progress drawings, and having regular correspondence throughout the project via telephone, email, and Teams.
- Review contract documents and specifications to determine the design criteria that incorporates both elements of code compliance and value engineering.
- Design complete fire sprinkler systems that meet all NFPA and local code requirements as necessary to obtain approval by the AHJ.
- Perform hydraulic calculations as required.
- Provide seismic bracing and calculations as required.
- Design fire pumps and standpipes as required.
- Create field installation drawings with cut pipe lengths and a stock listing report of all material.
- Coordinate with other MEP trades using 3D BIM software.
- Provide on-site surveys as necessary to determine existing building conditions.
- Identify change orders that create additional time and cost outside of our scope of work.
- Work with our internal team which includes sales, engineering, and plan review departments.
Job Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience in fire sprinkler design.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and either SprinkCAD, HydraCAD, or AutoSprink software.
- Experience designing various types of sprinkler systems in different building types.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of NFPA 13.
- Basic knowledge of Revit and Navisworks software is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Associate or Bachelors degree from a technical college or university preferred, but not required.
- NICET certification preferred, but not required.
