Job Title: Technical Program Manager III
Location: Redmond, WA (Hybrid)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Program Manager to support our Hardware Design TPMs in driving engineering design deliverables, managing hardware component delivery, and creating development schedules. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of product development processes, familiarity with product design fabrication processes, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Note: Technical Program Manager (TPM) for a hardware product team working on Smart Glasses.
🔹 What to look for:
- Someone who has 5 years of experience managing hardware projects in consumer electronics (smartwatches, AR/VR devices, smart glasses, etc.)
- Engineering background (mechanical or similar), and ideally someone who transitioned into program management
- Experience working with overseas suppliers and hardware vendors (ODM/CM)
- Strong planning, tracking hardware parts, coordinating builds, and communicating project updates
- Should understand manufacturing processes and how to get a product ready for mass production
Responsibilities
- Support Hardware Design TPMs in coordinating and driving engineering design deliverables, including specifications, DOE, and validation plans
- Manage delivery of hardware components for development builds and drive qualification to meet mass production timelines
- Create development, delivery, and qualification schedules based on system requirements, technical challenges, lead-times, and business needs
- Manage program structure to optimize clarity and efficiency for program teams and leadership
- Communicate program statuses, identifying potential setbacks, including vendor tooling schedules and design sprints
- Manage communication within and between internal cross-functional and external partners
- Ensure program documents are complete, current, and available for staff and leadership review
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5 years of experience working as a technology development program manager in consumer electronics
- Experience working with overseas suppliers of hardware components
- Experience in ODM, JDM, and CM vendor engagement models
- Knowledge of phase gate approach to technology development programs
- Experience with mechanical system development, design for manufacturing, tooling, validation, and characterization processes
- Adept at communicating, planning, with high level of attention to detail
- Knowledge of program top issue tracking
