K. Kelley Design is an interior design firm based in Litchfield County, Connecticut, with projects across the East Coast. We offer full-service interior design, leading projects spanning new construction, renovations, and decorating.
Role Description
Seeking a detail-oriented, interior design enthusiast to join the K. Kelley Design & McKenzie Shoppe team. If you are a hard-working, team player with an interest in learning more about interior design and retail, we want to hear from you.
This is a contract position based at our shoppe studio in Sharon, Connecticut 4-5 days a week. Primary responsibilities will include hosting visitors in the shoppe as well as supporting the principal interior designer on residential design projects.
Design Responsibilities
- Assist the principal interior designer with the execution of high-end residential interior design projects.
- Provide project management support including budget development, status updates on client orders, schedules (tile, paint, install, etc.), and more.
- Source furniture, fixtures, finishes, and materials that align with client design preferences, budget, and timeline with guidance from the principal.
- Attend on-the-ground, local site visits, measures, and installation of furniture, fixtures, and finishes as needed.
- Create detailed floor plans and elevations using AutoCAD. (Preferred, not required.)
- Manage and organize materials library.
Shoppe Responsibilities
- Work in the home boutique to understand visitors' wants and needs to provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist with shop inventory management (i.e. organization of inventory storage, point of sales system, creating purchase orders, receiving new inventory, etc.)
Please note one shoppe day will fall on the weekend.
Qualifications
- Experience or education in interior design preferred.
- Experience working in a high-end boutique space with an understanding of exceptional customer service preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to connect and build relationships with clients to understand their unique needs.
- Ability to proactively problem solve.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Mac and Google suite experience required.
- Proficiency in CAD for creating floor plans and elevations preferred.
- Must be okay with dogs in the studio/shoppe.
