We are seeking an iManage Engineer to join the team. As a member of K&L Gates Information Technology Department, the iManage Engineer is a key member of the firms Enterprise Applications Team. This role is primarily responsible for the day-to-day engineering, security, design, and escalated daily support functions of the Firm’s iManage Document Management Systems and related Applications.

Key Relationships

The iManage Engineer III will work closely with the members of the Global Information Technology Teams. Building strong relationships with peer engineers and developers, application architects, project managers, business analysts, and external vendors is essential. Additionally, the iManage Engineer III will collaborate with cross-functional teams from various departments such as Records, Security, Data Governance, and Finance to ensure alignment and DMS integration of data initiatives.

Essential Duties

Engineering And Security

  • Responsible for the day-to-day engineering, security, design, and escalated daily support functions of the Firm’s iManage Document Management Systems and related applications.
  • Write scripts/code/workflows in appropriate tools to automate the iManage platform with ease.
  • Demonstrate the ability to self-learn applications, SaaS, code, and workflows by the Enterprise Applications Department.
  • Troubleshoot issues to determine root cause while driving to a solution, managing tickets with external vendors and other internal teams with minimal supervision or additional support.
  • Provide level III support escalation for assigned applications. Document processes, knowledge, and all correspondence internally and externally used to resolve incidents and requests in a service management system ensuring a timely resolution for the customer.
  • Follow process, procedure, and policy as defined by the firm for the support of assigned applications/solutions.
  • Administer, maintain, patch, and upgrade applications in a Microsoft Windows / Azure environment.
  • Participate in and enforce enterprise standards, best practices, requirement gathering practices, and documentation standards.

Drive Value

  • Work with the Senior Enterprise Applications Architect to drive use and automations out of the iManage cloud platform to help the Firm increase revenues.
  • Possess a working knowledge of a Document Management Platform and the needed integrations to help the Firm run effectively and efficiently.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance (QA) team and assist with testing efforts as needed. Participate in defining test cases, plans, and scripts for functional end-user testing.
  • Have an understanding of AI Technologies and how they could interact with a DMS and other firm technology systems.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with members of the Global Information Technology Teams to integrate AI systems, document tools, and communication platforms with the iManage cloud platforms, enhancing the firm's collaboration and knowledge-sharing capabilities.
  • Work with project managers and business analysts to understand the scope of requirements and implement solutions that meet the business requirements.
  • Interface with peers and other teams as well as coach lower-level Engineers to successfully support and maintain assigned solutions.

Project Interaction

  • Expected to work, interact, and build relationships with other Enterprise Application Engineers and Developers, as well as Enterprise Architects, Project Managers, and Business Analysts to complete projects core to the firm's future vision.
  • Serve as the Lead in implementing enterprise initiatives and complex 3rd party applications with little to no guidance.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude to build working relationships/rapport with end users and business owners.
  • Participate in enterprise-level/team projects and application engineering with little to no guidance, while coaching lower-level Engineers.
  • Participate and manage the requirements gathering process – collect, review, analyze, evaluate, estimate, prioritize, and document business requirements for supported initiatives and enterprise/team projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching/mentoring to lower-level engineers on the team and mentor them as needed.

Additional Duties

  • Ability to work nights and weekends when assigned secondary on-call to assist on-call engineers with urgent requests and incidents, as needed.
  • Must be able to self-manage workload, projects deliverables, ticket queue, support and troubleshoot applications while tracking time.
  • Must be able to self-learn, troubleshoot, evaluate, and integrate applications/software/workflow with limited assistance from peers or vendors.
  • Participates in or leads one or more product circles (functional product teams/technical user groups) to help support and deliver an amazing experience and new features to our customers.
  • Must be able to document user stories and assign work in work management system.
  • Write test scripts, provide QA and end user testing of critical business functions and applications

Experience & Skills Required

  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience to provide the necessary skills to perform primary responsibilities
  • Ability to multi-task, coach and mentor lower-level Engineers, work under pressure, and handle interruptions while maintaining flexibility in work assignments.
  • Aptitude to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and interact with diverse personalities while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • A minimum of 6 years of demonstrated experience working with iManage systems/platforms.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience working for a professional service organization.
  • Proven expertise in working on large-scale projects, ideally within the legal technology sector or highly regulated industries such as finance or healthcare.
  • Experienced in working with solutions that comply with global data handling and regulatory standards, including legal-specific standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, E-Discovery, and other regional privacy standards.
  • Possess a level of excellence and familiarity with the Microsoft Cloud platform tools such as Office 365 or m365, Microsoft Teams, Entra ID, Intune and OneDrive.
  • A minimum of 6 years of demonstrated application support and administration or related experience in an application engineering capacity.
  • A minimum of 3 years working PowerShell / PowerAutomate or like scripting language/workflow tool, with abilities to use these tools to automate support processes.
  • Ability to write technical documentation and training materials for the applications supported by the Enterprise Applications team.

Experience & Skills Preferred

Deep knowledge of the legal industry, especially in areas such as Document Management Systems, financial systems, analytics, legal screens, time keeping, and legal operations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge working with a wide range of cloud technologies, preferably in in the Microsoft/Azure stack.
  • Advanced knowledge of KCS (Knowledge Center Support) methodology
  • Possesses two or more applicable iManage Cloud Systems certifications such as iManage certified Helpdesk Analyst, Cloud Fundamentals, Universal API Developer, SPM Admin/SPM Engineer, and/or Share Admin.
  • Experience understanding business workflow inside DMS systems and offering solutions to automate or optimize process.

Additional Abilities Required

  • Flexibility to work scheduled nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Effectively present ideas, projects, problems, or solutions verbally and in writing to medium-sized groups, and lead meetings when needed.
  • Ability to work on/with a team where other members can be in different offices and/or time zones.
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • After orientation, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • This job operates in an office setting and is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Manual dexterity required for typing, reaching and lifting of small objects, and operating office equipment.
  • Frequent computer, video conferencing, and telephone use at workstation up to eight hours at a time.
  • Capability to work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Stay updated on technologies to improve configurations, troubleshoot issues, find root causes, and resolve them independently.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Ability to perform job functions in an office setting or suitable remote working location.

Compensation Salary $108,000 - $162,000/year

The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
