JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The janitor position performs custodial work in offices, warehouse, industrial areas and other building interiors.
Essential Functions

1. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on building interior and exterior.
2. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
3. Sometimes using ladders, washes and paints walls.
4. Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas. May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
5. Works in a safe manner and recognizes unsafe situations. Takes appropriate action to ensure safety of themselves and others in building.
6. Refuse and Recycling disposal

Required Education and Experience
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. 1 year of relevant building maintenance experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Experience doing maintenance work in manufacturing type of environment.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required in some areas.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
