The Controls Applications Engineer will work closely with engineering, estimating, proposal management and other cross functional teams to create customer proposals. This role is responsible for developing device layouts, creating costing, and aiding in proposal and Request for Quote (RFQ) development.
Your role in our team
- You work closely with Applications Engineers, Estimators, and Proposal Managers throughout the bid process
- You develop controls and engineering labor estimates based on layouts provided by applications engineers, including field device and IO counts as needed
- You aid the proposal manager in creating proposals for both product and integration bids
- You aid procurement in developing electrical subcontractor RFQ packages
- You conduct internal and external customer meetings as required to facilitate the bid process
- You work with multiple departments during bid and handoff phases, including presenting costs and concepts to internal leaders
- You maintain organized documentation for all bids
- You support multiple client projects with a range of $100K - $450M
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or greater in an engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.
- You have 2 years of experience in a related role
- You are proficient in automation controls architecture at the level of detail needed during the bid phase
- You have working knowledge in using such programs as AutoCAD and Navisworks
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills
- You have the proven ability to document technical decisions with illustrations and clear verbal explanations
- You consistently strive for high quality output to exceed customer expectations
- You have excellent analytical skills.
- You are able to travel - 25%
