Responsible for representing procurement in the earliest possible stages of product development and production processes. This includes active driving and supporting new-(re)design and design-to-cost activities to safeguard the desired target costs, obtain and make available knowledge about technologies, and know how to interface partners as well as supporting departments in supplier selection to achieve the best terms and conditions with an excellent (optimal with regards to quality, logistics, costs) supplier base through steering and applying a joint strategy

Your role in our team
- You will have active participation in creating transparency regarding running development topics (e.g. product development and production processes) providing a voice for purchasing.
- You will observe competition on global supply markets and evaluate relevant information to identify early on new or alternative technologies, trends and suppliers (technology scouting) and to bring this information into the product development process.
- You will bring insights of technological aspects into category strategies as well as setting up and driving cost optimization activities (design to cost, target costing, standardization etc.) in order to improve total costs.
- You will analyze and evaluate manufacturing technologies at domestic and abroad suppliers in order to optimize the supplier portfolio regarding the mid- and long-term requirements based on the required specifications of a development project.
- You will collaborate when defining target prices for the to be purchased components. On demand, conduct value analysis and purchased part analysis for required components, support activities for volume bundling and in contracting part family packages.
- You will review project milestones in the overall project planning in terms of purchasing activities and generate actions accordingly. Provide necessary information to the interface functions and coordinate activities relevant to purchasing.
- You will prepare RFQs jointly based on functional product requirements, documents or technical specifications, and/or award contracts with interface partners during the development project.
- You will conduct negotiations within the scope of targets in the above-mentioned area of responsibility. Implement concept workshops and initiate strategic development partnerships in coordination with the design/development areas.
- You will coordinate and prepare development contracts in alignment with appropriate departments.
- You will manage suppliers during the development phase, if necessary until the start of production, e.g. coordinate communication with suppliers with the objective of ensuring agreed targets for cost, time, quality and fulfillment of all specifications.
- You will provide support of supplier management process (from development point of view), in order to concentrate on the best suppliers. Ensure an excellent supplier base together with interface partners (e.g. development, quality, logistics).
- You will merge, process, present and maintain procurement-related data and information and make them available. If necessary present them to relevant parties in order to make data and facts transparent and to inform interface partners comprehensively
- You will prepare and consult for make-or-buy decisions.
- You will participate in interdisciplinary working groups and project work to inform about, to influence and to optimize internal processes and procedures.
- You will show a strong eagerness to learn and a positive attitude everyday
- You will work on special projects as needed
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or an equivalent vocational education with business and/or technical background
- You have 5 years working experience in purchasing and/or in a technical department
- You have leadership/project leader experience in various positions of purchasing and/or in a technical department is a plus
- you have technical expertise in the above-mentioned area of responsibility
- You have Intercultural experience (desirable).
- Knowledge of MS Office, ERP (e.g. SAP)
- Proficient in electronic data interchange or related software
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to think critically
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Solid analytical skills
- Ability to speak English at a business fluent level
