We are seeking a motivated, qualified individual to join our company as an Asset Manager who will be responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of a diverse portfolio of assets—including vehicle fleets, equipment, and related systems—supporting nine unique companies under a shared services model. This role plays a critical part in ensuring asset availability, compliance, and cost-effectiveness across the organization. The Asset Manager maintains lifecycle tracking, oversees maintenance schedules, coordinates GPS and telematics systems, and ensures compliance with motor vehicle record (MVR) requirements. This position is also a key liaison with the Risk Management and Insurance teams to support auto and property & casualty (P&C) insurance program administration. All work will be performed in accordance with applicable guidelines, DOT, and Company safety procedures.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage asset inventory and lifecycle for all shared assets including vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, and specialty tools.
- Maintain up-to-date asset records including assignments, location, value, condition, and utilization metrics.
- Oversee vehicle fleet across all entities, ensuring cost-effective usage, registration, licensing, and disposal strategies.
- Coordinate acquisition, transfer, and retirement of vehicles and equipment in accordance with corporate policy.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of service across all company assets.
- Monitor GPS/telematics systems for real-time vehicle data, safety alerts, idle times, and route optimizations.
- Track driver Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) and ensure drivers meet company and insurance eligibility requirements.
- Coordinate vehicle inspections and ensure adherence to DOT, state, and federal regulations where applicable.
- Act as a primary liaison with Risk Management for auto insurance and property & casualty insurance claims.
- Assist in gathering and submitting vehicle and driver data for insurance underwriting, renewals, and audits.
- Maintain records of claims, losses, and incident reports, support investigations in collaboration with HR or Safety.
- Generate and present regular reports on asset performance, maintenance costs, fleet utilization, and risk exposure.
- Identify trends and provide recommendations for cost savings, improved compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain open communication and strong working relationships with team members, collaborating departments, leadership, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of assigned tasks or requests.
- Handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
- Assist in investigating and resolving complaints, discrepancies, and operational issues while providing solutions to management.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent work experience considered.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in asset, fleet, or equipment management.
- Experience managing MVR programs and coordinating insurance-related tasks.
- Experience with insurance claim workflows or working with third-party administrators.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel - databases and asset tracking systems.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to travel between operating companies or regional facilities as business demands.
