Job Overview

K&T Security is seeking experienced Security Officers for temporary part-time positions throughout the holiday season. These roles will primarily focus on providing retail security at high-traffic locations, ensuring a safe shopping environment for customers and staff during the busiest time of the year. We offer flexible scheduling with shifts ranging from 10-30 hours per week, perfect for those seeking additional income. This position will last through the New Year and could lead to full-time opportunities for top-performing candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Retail Security & Loss Prevention:
  • Serve as a visible deterrent against theft, vandalism, and other suspicious activities in busy retail environments.
  • Proactively identify and address potential security risks, providing a calm yet firm presence.
  • Respond quickly to thefts, disturbances, or emergency situations while maintaining professionalism and de-escalating conflicts.
  • Collaborate with store management and law enforcement as needed to ensure a safe environment.
• Customer Service & Public Safety:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, assisting store staff and customers with security-related questions or concerns.
  • Maintain a welcoming yet authoritative demeanor to ensure a positive experience for customers while promoting safety.
  • Help manage crowd control during busy times, especially near store entrances, exits, and checkout lines.
• Report Writing & Incident Documentation:
  • Write detailed daily activity reports and accurately document incidents, thefts, or any security concerns.
  • Regularly patrol store premises to maintain a secure environment and report any irregularities.

Compensation & Scheduling:

• Pay: $20-$22 per hour based on experience and licensing.
• Hours: Flexible scheduling is available, with shifts typically running from 9:30 AM - 7:00 PM. Opportunities for 10-30 hours per week, depending on availability and location needs.
• Duration: Seasonal positions available immediately, lasting through the New Year. High performers may be considered for full-time roles based on business needs.
• Benefits: No additional benefits for part-time seasonal work; however, full-time opportunities may include a benefits package.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • At least 2 years of prior security experience in a retail, hospitality, or other high-traffic environments is required.
  • Experience with loss prevention, de-escalation techniques, and responding to emergency situations is highly preferred.
• Licensing:
  • Must have a valid DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services) certification.
  • Maryland Guard Card or DC SPO License preferred.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for long periods, patrol large retail areas, and remain alert throughout shifts.
  • Must be comfortable working in fast-paced, high-traffic environments, especially during peak holiday shopping hours.
• Technology:
  • Must own an Android or iPhone to access required websites/apps for clocking in/out and submitting reports.
• Transportation:
  • Reliable transportation to travel to various retail locations in Washington, DC, and Maryland is essential.
