Managing Director, Investigations and Disputes

K2 Integrity
New York, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 2/16/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 3/16/2025
K2 Integrity is currently seeking a managing director to join our growing Investigations and Disputes practice. This senior market-facing professional will be responsible for developing and leading engagements across all aspects of the practice—including corporate fraud investigations, bribery and corruption investigations, asset investigations, litigation support, and risk advisory and intelligence services—with a focus on investigations.

The successful candidate for this role will be publicly recognized as a subject-matter expert in their practice areas and serve as a public face of the firm. With a skill set that extends beyond pure investigative work, they can engage with clients as a consultant to understand client needs and suggest both appropriate solutions and specific areas where K2 Integrity can offer support. The managing director will strategically and systematically develop client relationships in the Americas region, serve as a trusted advisor to clients across industry verticals to help identify the key drivers of client value, and develop strong and long-lasting client relationships. Sustaining long-lasting relationships built on a foundation of trust is fundamental to how K2 Integrity views its relationships with its clients, and how our team has had success in building the K2 Integrity brand.

The managing director will also be responsible for fieldwork necessary for case development by gathering, processing, and reviewing a variety of information to produce quality and detailed analysis. The managing director will be expected to work collaboratively with other managing directors in the practice and across the firm, as well as with K2 Integrity’s senior leadership. Candidates should possess a strong grasp of what is involved in the planning and management of complex multijurisdictional investigations as well as the management of cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.

Responsibilities

  • Drive growth of the Investigations and Disputes practice by establishing and developing new client relationships.
  • Engage in strategic and systematic business development efforts (identifying new target clients, establishing and building relationships with senior executives at those entities, fostering partnerships).
  • Develop a profile in the market and take part in business development in order to meet established revenue origination targets.
  • Prepare proposals, oversee engagements, and maintain active and ongoing communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction with our work, and foster sustained and ongoing business relationships.
  • Provide executive-level leadership and oversight of team members regarding engagement work plans and performance.
  • Act as a recognized expert and active thought leader in the marketplace; engage in thought leadership and participate in public speaking engagements; represent the firm in marketing events or other public events.
  • Conduct and manage detailed investigative research on individuals, corporate entities, and issues from a wide range of sources, including media reports; criminal, civil, and bankruptcy proceedings; regulatory filings; business registrations; and real property records, as well as human sources.
  • Manage a variety of fraud investigations and internal corporate investigations, including the management of various workstreams, from transaction testing, document review, forensic analysis, data analytics, and interviews to investigative research and fieldwork.
  • Prepare investigative reports communicating findings to clients and develop recommendations that progress investigations.
  • Manage multifaceted data and research findings under constricted deadlines.
  • Stay apprised of industry trends and current developments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree and/or similar advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • 10 years of strong experience in dispute and investigation consulting or equivalent public sector experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of strategic business development.
  • A passion for excellence, creativity, and alignment with K2 Integrity’s entrepreneurial ethos.
  • A desire to have a significant impact on the broader business success of the firm.
  • A high level of energy, sense of urgency, and decisiveness coupled with an ability to work in high-stakes and high-pressure situations with tight deadlines for execution.
  • Strong executive presence and business acumen.
  • Hands-on personality with strong drive, ambition, and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent oral and written foreign language skills are desired.
