Job Title: Dog Monitor/Trainer

Position Summary: We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Dog Handler/Trainer to join our team at K9 Country Club. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and manage playtimes for dogs in our open-air dog park. You will ensure that the dogs interact safely and happily in group settings, offering supervision, engaging in play, and training.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise playtime sessions for dogs in groups of up to six. Monitor dog behavior and ensure safe interactions between dogs. Intervene in cases of excessive rough play or aggression to maintain a positive and safe environment. Provide positive reinforcement during playtime to encourage good behavior and proper socialization. Assist in training exercises as needed to reinforce basic commands and behaviors. Keep the play area clean and safe for the dogs. Ensure all dogs have enough exercise, social interaction, and rest during the sessions.
Communicate with owners regarding their dog’s behavior and progress during playtime.
Maintain a high standard of animal care and welfare.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with dogs, in a kennel, daycare, or training environment, is preferred. Strong understanding of dog behavior, body language, and basic training techniques.
Ability to handle multiple dogs in a group setting.
Ability to stay calm and composed during stressful situations. Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
Passion for working with animals and helping them socialize in a safe environment.
Proficient in pet care techniques, including feeding and grooming.
Experience as a veterinary technician is a plus.
Background in pet sitting or dog handling preferred.
Strong animal restraint skills to ensure safety during handling.
Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners.
Knowledge of general animal care practices and behaviors.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for animal care tasks.
Strong animal handling skills with a focus on positive reinforcement techniques.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to stand, walk, lift 50 lbs, and move around the dog park for extended periods.
