Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive offers an all-inclusive boutique summer ballet camp experience unlike any other. Kaatsbaan is situated on 153 rural acres in the quaint Village of Tivoli, New York, just two hours north of New York City. Our facilities include state-of-the-art dance studios, lodging at The Dancers’ Inn, and a food program at the Artist Farmhouse. The Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive provides a healthy and safe environment for young dancers to hone their balletic technical skills and refine their artistry with teachers of great renown.

Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive is a unique training program designed for young dancers to develop exceptional technical skills, artistic refinement, and a sophisticated approach to repertoire, with the ultimate goal of preparing attendees for a career in the arts.

The KBI Chef manages KBI’s food and beverage service operations. The Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals for 30–45 dancers, staff, and faculty per two-week session, with four sessions running from June 22nd through August 16th, 2025. A week of kitchen preparation is scheduled for June 16–20. The Chef has high standards for health and safety. They are responsible for all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, staff management, and ensuring food safety and quality.

Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive Lead Chef duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Meal planning
  • Shopping/ordering food on budget
  • Managing inventory
  • Daily food preparation for three meals
  • General kitchen maintenance and cleanliness with daily and periodic cleaning checks
  • Ensure a high level of health and safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene
  • Adhere to existing working practices, methods, and procedures
  • Managing and scheduling small kitchen support staff
  • Accommodating diverse dietary needs

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Salary: $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

Breakfast service: 8:00–9:00 am

Lunch Service: 12:00–1:00 pm

Dinner service: 5:30–6:30 pm

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Experience working a commercial kitchen or a kitchen that prepped buffet-style meals
  • Ability to work long hours on your feet
  • Ability to interact positively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Be up to date on COVID vaccinations
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong command of communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a busy environment with many distractions
  • Willingness to learn
  • Exhibits maturity & good judgement
  • Demonstrated adaptability in changing situations

License/Certification:

  • ServSafe Certified
