We are looking for a User Research Co-op to join our high-performing user research team. This Co-op will contribute by assisting the team in running research studies and analyzing data to shape meaningful experiences for our players for our flagship game, Marvel Contest of Champions, and for our games in prototyping. This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing a Masters or PhD to receive mentorship from our experienced team in an exciting industry. This is a 4 month co-op starting in May, with possibility of extension to 8 months.
\n- Assist in data collection through interviews, usability studies, or survey analysis
- Observe participants and note-take during sessions
- Code video and interviews for analysis
- Gain insights into what motivates players to play games
- Assist in setting up and preparing research studies
- Support with recruiting participants for research studies
- Learn about new research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative
- Develop a basic understanding of game user research
- Learn about the game development process and how user research supports it
- Develop strong relationships with the research team
- Collaborate with the research team to contribute to research efforts
- Current enrolment in a Masters or PhD in a relevant field such as Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or similar programs
- Knowledge of qualitative user research and analysis methods
- Competency in quantitative user research and data analysis methods such as descriptive statistics
- Familiarity with using Excel or similar tools to generate quantitative findings
- Ability to switch between multiple projects
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of grounded theory
- A passion for games
- Comfort with public speaking/presenting to small audiences
- Presentation design skills
