What are the responsibilities and job description for the Die casting position at Kable Staffing?
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Mount, align, and secure die sections in machine; connect cooling hoses and adjust die cooling system; monitor and adjust machine parameters such as aluminum feed rate and timing cycles; cycle machine to check adjustments and ensure proper closing of die sections
- Perform related process tasks such as maintaining lubricant levels in dies and on plunger to achieve clean mold releases: clear knock-out pins and make routine machine adjustments as needed
- Operate machine to make trial shots; note quality issues such as casting dimensions, fill, and surface defects; make appropriate machine adjustments to correct noted defects
- Diagnose machine troubles and make appropriate adjustments; clear knock-out pins; and polish die surfaces to achieve clean mold releases
- Work from part drawings, specifications, production schedules, and written instructions
- Use precise measuring devices such as scales, calipers, and micrometers to determine machine setup accuracy
- Operate crane to perform die changes and ingot loading
- Perform die casting Production Operator jobs as necessary
- Train co-workers to operate die casting equipment including the furnace, die casting machine, trimming die, and shot blaster; demonstrate startup/shutdown procedures; demonstrate how and why machine adjustments are made to correct process defects such as short-fill and surface blemishes; demonstrate how to perform machine troubleshooting tasks using basic hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. Train co-workers on how to adjust spray heads
- Train co-workers to perform minor to moderate machine repairs and preventive maintenance tasks such as: change worn or damaged hydraulic hoses, clean vacuum pumps, and change oil filters; advise Team Lead or Supervisor of status of machine repairs
- Communicate all employee concerns, machine issues, and any other irregularities to appropriate personnel
Requirements
- HS diploma or equivalent required to perform the job successfully
- Minimum of three years’ experience in manufacturing environment, preferably fast-pasted automotive
- Intermediate Math skills
- Proficient in production techniques, process, and methods
