Job Description

Kaela Speicher Photography is seeking positions for a Part-Time or Full-Time studio assistant to join our team! The role includes assisting on photoshoots, filming behind the scenes for our social media, Lightroom culling and editing, managing retouching workflow and communication with our retouching team, finalizing retouching, tending to clients, and general assistance with studio workflow on set and at the computer. Familiarity with Canon DSLRs, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Photoshop a plus but not mandatory. The Studio Assistant does not need to be a photographer or have an art related background, but should thrive working in a creative and fast paced environment while providing excellent customer service. Willing to train the perfect candidate. Must be energetic, have a positive attitude, great customer service/people skills, excellent attention to detail, and physical ability to be your your feet for long hours and move/lift equipment up to 50 pounds. Able to work independently with little or no supervision and learn quickly. Typical working hours are M-F 10am-6pm, but some shoots run longer than an 8 hour day. Must be okay with occational longer days, as photoshoots are based on assignment. Travel is provided to on-location photoshoots. Pay rate will depend on experience and current skill level.

Responsibilities

• Greeting clients and tending to them throughout the shoot
• Assistance with pre-shoot prep and wardrobe steaming
• Photography and video assistance during the photoshoot (managing lights, backgrounds, changing sets, etc)
• Taking iPhone video/photo behind the scenes during photoshoots
• Culling and editing images in Lightroom
• File management and image archiving
• Ensure the studio remains clean, orderly, and efficient
• Perform a variety of other studio related tasks/errands
• Lightroom culling and editing (making selects and editing: exposure, crop, white balance, etc)
• Finalizing retouching in Adobe Photoshop
• Communication and image file management with our retouching team
• Occasional writing tasks for blog posts and social media
• General organization and documentation of daily tasks
• Assistant related tasks for the owner, Kaela Speicher
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Interest in photography and creative work preferred
• Skills in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom, but willing to train
• Knowledge of Canon DSLRs and studio lighting equipment preferred, but willing to train
• Positive and professional personality
• Customer service background/skills
• Interests in art, fashion, photography, marketing, customer service
• Eagerness to learn and work in a fast pace creative environment
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
• Understanding of social media and content creation
