JOB TITLE: PACKER
JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Responsible for placing quality finished products into appropriate cases. Responsible for using procedures that ensure food safety and quality product.
Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

1. 40% Follows approved procedures for placing finished product into appropriate cases. Responsible for making sure all bowls/pouches are clean and sealed properly before packing. Keep line clean and floor uncluttered. Count bowls, totes, cases, pouches and materials. Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records. Maintain lidder station, visual check for over fills or under fills and all containers have clean and secure lids before going to the bander. Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards. Adjust machine components and machine tension and air pressure according to size or processing height of packaging. Tend or operate machine that packages product. Remove finished packaged items from machine and separate rejected items. Regulate machine flow or speed. Keep line clean and floor uncluttered during production operation Maintain and monitor production operations and lidder machine to ensure conformance to specifications and make or inform operator of necessary process or assembly adjustments to lidder machine or conveyor speed. Fill lidder with lids and insure correct packaging is being used in compliance with the job order.

30% Remove completed or defective products or materials, placing them on moving equipment such as conveyors or in specified areas such as loading docks. Seal containers or materials, using glues, fasteners, tape, and hand tools. Load materials and products into package processing equipment. Apply approved labels to cases before production begins.
30% Assemble, line, and pad cartons, pallets, and totes, using hand. Clean containers, materials, supplies, or work areas, using cleaning solutions and hand tools. Transport packages to staging area Responsible for complying with all GMP protocols. Performs other duties as needed or assigned by supervisor

POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Internal Contacts:
Production Manager, production supervisor, line operator, QC/QA, R&D, and maintenance.
External Contacts:
Auditors and customers.
Education Level and Focus:
Proof of high school diploma or equivalent. Willingness to continue education through approved courses or classes that will enhance personal and professional growth.
Years and Type of Related Experience Required:
Manufacturing experience preferred.

Attendance:
Ability to be punctual with regular attendance. Ability to work overtime as needed.
Interpersonal and Communication:
Ability to function with minimal supervision, including the capacity to learn, write, implement, and follow GMP and processing safety rules and other directives. Ability to speak and write English. Ability to work in stressful environment and meet deadlines.
Technical and Analytical:
Basic math and writing skills a plus.
Physical Demands:
Physical and mental demands, including standing for long periods of time, reaching, bending, lift 50 lbs, pushing, pulling. Repetitive motions over long periods of time. Have good hand/eye coordination.
Work Environment:
Food plant, cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, aromas from ingredients, and products, forklift and pedestrian traffic. Moving mechanical parts, conveyors, heavy machinery. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
