Shipping Clerk

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

This job requires the (SHIPPING CLERK) to perform the following tasks:
•    To work in a safe manner
•    To take direction from the Manager and/or Supervisor to assure procedures are being followed. Always follow shipping procedures to ensure the sales order is shipped correctly and is taken out of the system correctly.
•    To perform other duties as needed.
•    Monitor shipping dock for damaged product, remove and adjust as needed using the IAR & ICD process.
•    Fill in for forklift driver to load trucks as required.
•    Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    5%            Monitors the gate to let trucks, deliveries, UPS or Fed EX etc. in/out. Counts and verifies and logs how many packages UPS or Fed Ex drop before signing off on them. 

2.    80%        Ensures all drivers are signed in and out. After a driver has given the correct order # they are picking up they are assigned a dock door. Documents the seal # on the trailer inspection form and makes sure it is put on after truck has been loaded, the assigned dock door is put on the pick list to ensure the correct truck is being loaded.  Gets a photo copy of the driver’s driver license. Checks the trailer inspection form, takes a digital photo of inside the trailer with written documentation for identification of the load. Verifies the count from loaders form and that product was pulled according to FIFO.  Then he relieves inventory of product being shipped, then generates a BOL packing list.  
                Process all shipped at Americold. Enters in all TempTale into correct Network. Complete IAR’s and ICD’s as needed.
3.     10%        Assist in scheduling trucks as needed. Verifies all paperwork is filled out correctly with no blanks. Scan all BOL’s into correct files. Fill in as forklift driver to load trucks as required.    
4.    5%            Keep the office clean, organized and stocked with office supplies that are needed to do the job. Monitor all shipping supplies for orders.

Internal Contacts:
    To communicate with the shipping manager, supervisor, lead person and shipping personnel; also communicates with QC. 

External Contacts:
    Truckers and Trucking Companies

Education Level and Focus:
    Requires a high school diploma and basic math skills

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:
    Must have Microsoft office experience, previous shipping experience preferred but not required. Some previous work related skill, knowledge of how to operate forklift.

    Requires walking, sitting, the ability to bend and stoop, as well as lift 50 lbs. on occasion and climbing up and down stairs. Must be able to operate a forklift.   

Work Environment:
    Exposed to extreme cold/hot temperatures, high noise levels, wet floors.  Forklift and pedestrian traffic.  This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
