Direct Support Professional in Christiansburg, VA
Kahak Health Care Services offers respite services, in-home supports services, community coaching, companion services, and group home facilities in Virginia. Kahak Health Care Services provides hands-on care, habilitative supports, and assistance with activities of daily living for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities with a goal of increasing an individual's independence. Staff supervise and monitor daily living skills, manage behavior issues, and accompany individuals on outings in the community.
We need of candidates who are committed to providing quality care for others with a minimum of one year experience in the medical field (mental health, group home, elder care, hospital work, etc.) Work experience in group home or ABA setting a plus.
Job Duties:
- Training and support in activities of daily living and independent living skills
- Training and support to enhance community integration by utilizing community resources
- Training on and supportive monitoring of health, nutrition, and physical well-being and safety.
- Assisting clients with daily personal tasks, including bathing and dressing
- Support in performing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes and tidying
- Helping plan client appointments and organize a schedule
- Coordinating and/or providing transportation to appointments and community outings.
- Shopping for groceries and preparing meals that meet specific client dietary needs
- Encouraging client engagement in social networks and communities
- Support with acquisition of new skills and/or maintenance of existing skills based on individualized preferences and goals.
- Daily documentation of each shift.
Requirements:
- CPR/First Aid
- US Work Authorization
- Clearance from FBI Background check
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Clearance from Child Registry check
- Valid Driver's License
