Position: Director of Imaging
Department: Medical Imaging
Status: Full-Time, Non-Bargaining
FLSA: Exempt
Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Radiologist in conjunction with the CNO, the Director of Imaging will oversee all aspects of a diagnostic imaging department on a daily basis, including staff, equipment, budgets, and operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care and compliance with regulations. The Director of Imaging will also have a technical role and perform a variety of technical and diagnostic procedures in addition to administrative and managerial duties in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Essential Functions:

  • Institutes and assists in the development of new programs, procedures, standards, and continuing education for radiology personnel, ensuring the competency of all personnel.
  • Develop optimal staffing models to meet operational needs and budgetary constraints.
  • Prepares and delivers reports to operational leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives, to include performance related to finance, clinical activity, quality, safety, marketing, and human resources.
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and proper utilization of radiology equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety practices.
  • Establishes annual financial goals and actively monitors and analyzes financial data for decisions regarding FTEs, staffing and operational budget.
  • Develops and implements active quality assurance programs, clinical outcome measures, and the implementation of evidence-based medicine.
  • Evaluates patient care and develops and maintains policies directed toward implementing strategic initiatives to enhance radiology services, aligning with hospital goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Works with the electronic systems and associated teams to improve digital record handling, procedure coding, revenue capture, and reducing data errors.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of technologists and support staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as referring physicians, community organizations, and vendors, to enhance the department's reputation and business growth.
Job Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
  • Degree from accredited Radiology Technology program required.
  • Current State of Hawaii Radiology license required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Radiology services.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Pushing and pulling up to 200 lbs., lifting up to 100 lbs. and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • High attention to detail, concentration, alertness, and mathematical ability levels needed.
  • Continuous manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination.
  • Continuous use of vision (corrected vision, depth perception, wide field of vision and color vision).
  • Work is performed in a clinical setting, which may include exposure to infectious diseases, biohazards, and varying noise levels.
