JOB TITLE: Sonoran Learning Collective - Elementary Teacher (Grade 3, 4, or 5)

LOCATION: Cave Creek, AZ

START DATE: 04/28/25

HOURS: Tuesdays from 9:00am-3:45pm (teaching time is 9:30am-3:30pm but teachers are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start of classes and stay until after students are picked up)

POSITION SUMMARY

Hybrid school programs are growing and now serve many students across the state. Sonoran Learning Collective was launched in August 2024 to serve families in the North Valley seeking a hybrid educational model. With small class sizes of 6-8 students per class, we provide a location for parents to drop their students off and receive classroom instruction 2 days per week. Our teachers partner with parents to provide a weekly guideline to be followed at home to complete remaining work by the following Monday.

We follow a set curriculum, much of which is Bible-based and holds a Christian worldview. While lessons are pre-planned by the publisher, teachers are required to plan ahead, lay out upcoming lesson dates, prepare for any extra crafts or activities, etc.

Our teachers truly enjoy being with young people and supporting their growth. They must have strong relationships with a small group of students and their families. They must have a high standard of excellence in terms of academic achievement and be familiar with learning standards. Finally, teachers need to deeply know their students and give them individualized support where needed.

**This position is for the 2025-2026 school year on Mondays and Tuesdays. We are currently offering a paid, 4-week training period on Tuesdays from 04/29/25 - 05/20/25 with signed teacher commitment for the following school year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

There are three core responsibilities to being a teacher at Sonoran Learning Collective.

1. The primary responsibility is to lead and create an incredibly positive student culture. Our school is a place where students learn, make friends, complete challenging tasks, and look forward to coming every day.

2. Students may need individualized support with either academics (stuck on how to start a math problem) or their executive functioning (they have a hard time focusing or managing their workload). Our teachers need to have strong classroom management skills and be able to support students in both areas.

3. Perhaps more than anything else, our teachers are a support for parents. Earning parent trust requires a significant amount of attention to detail, communication, and community building.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, FUNCTIONS
